NIET has custom-developed this fast-track Fashion Programme to include all the core skills you need to design, manufacture, promote and market your own line of clothing. Plus, with articulations to Griffith, Torrens and Canberra University you can shave an entire year off a degree.

About the Course:

Make a visual statement with a Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising. Our course teaches you the skills and knowledge relevant to fashion design and product development jobs, and assistant roles associated with fashion product management in a fashion enterprise.

Available on campus or online via distance, the Diploma is designed to lead to career and further training opportunities in either product design and development or business and merchandising, and elective choices are categorised by these specialisations.

This qualification allows for a generalist qualification, or specialisation in the fields of ‘Design and Product Development’ and ‘Fashion Business’.

When you graduate, you can articulate into a Bachelor of Branded Fashion Design at Torrens, or a Bachelor of Design at Griffith and save up to a year on your studies.

What You’ll Learn:

  • work effectively and safely in the fashion industry
  • develop design concepts
  • learn on high-end textile design and manufacturing tools
  • estimate production costs
  • control product quality
  • network within the industry

Diploma of Fashion Design
I'm loving studying design at the institute - it's fast-paced but the staff, the labs, the learning are awesome. The opportunity to start from scratch to design and market a clothing line is super exciting.
